I earned a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and graduated in 2012. I have been licensed since 2016. My current license as an LMFT is in Washington state. I worked at the Native American Rehabilitation Association in Portland Oregon as an intern then as an employee serving Native American and Alaskan Native children and families. In 2016 I continued my career in a group practice focusing on children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, and trauma. I have worked with children and parents for most of my career. Prior to working as a therapist, I worked as a preschool teacher and parenting coach through Head Start and Multnomah Education Service District. I have some experience working with people from many backgrounds and countries but would in no way claim I am an expert in someone else's culture. I respect and value all cultural, religious, spiritual cultures and practices. All families are welcome.
Therapy
I provide therapy services for children with ADHD, autism, anxiety, trauma, social interaction difficulties, behavioral issues, and issues related to school. I work with children (ages 3-12) and families. I encourage families to be open and honest in order to develop long-lasting change. Ideally, a person's community and extended family will be integrated into the process.
Theoretical orientation:
My approach to therapy draws from a number of theoretical orientations including cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused therapy, exposure therapy, and family systems theory. While these approaches are important, I hone in on the client and families needs, resources, and strengths. Part of looking at the whole person may mean I refer your child to other specialists as needed. To add, I also enjoy using creativity in my practice through art, play, movement, humor or anything else that may be healing for my client.
